This course is ideal for educators, youth workers, and educational support staff involved in creating educational programs and materials, who are keen to enhance their understanding of media literacy and its application in educational settings.
Suvi is an expert in educational psychology with a broad understanding of education and a deep insight into the human mind and learning. She holds a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Helsinki and has taught students in an innovative educational psychology program. Suvi’s teaching experience includes lecturing, supervising pre-service teachers, and facilitating group processes in phenomenon-based learning. Her research has focused on teacher-student interaction, and she has also studied media education as part of her teacher training. With grassroots experience as a classroom teacher, youth worker, and camp supervisor, she brings practical knowledge of working with children and teenagers to her work in teacher education and training.

12:30–14:30 – Researcher interview about media trends and impact.
Day 3, Tuesday
08:30–10:00 – Travel to Tampere.
10:00–12:30 – Visit Tampere Mediapolis for presentations on schools’ media tutors and children’s news production by Mari Vesanummi.
12:30–14:30 – Visit media museum Rupriikki.
14:30–18:00 – Return trip.

08:30–10:00 – Observation or participation in a media literacy workshop with students.
10:00–12:30 – Lunch at school and reflections on classroom practices.
12:30–14:30 – Interview key actors involved in media literacy education.
