Finnish Early Childhood Education and Care course offers a comprehensive insight into Finland's high-quality ECEC practices. Participants will engage into thematic and hands-on experiences through presentations, activities, and visits to ECEC centers and primary schools. The course covers the Finnish education system, pedagogy, curriculum, and transversal competences, providing a deep dive into various learning environments from early childhood to primary education. Through discussions and observations, teachers will reflect and apply these insights to their own educational contexts. Located in Oulu, Finland, this course promises an enriching professional development experience, blending critical analysis, detailed feedback, and strategic application practices to enhance participants' teaching methods and educational frameworks.

Target group are the school management, teachers, special education teachers and all other non-teaching experts and staff working in early and primary school education. The course covers a wide range of topics that schools need to consider and tackle when introducing future education in their school:


  • Understand the core principles of Finnish Early Childhood Education and Care.
  • Explore effective pedagogical practices and curriculum design.
  • Experience diverse learning environments through site visits.
  • Apply transversal competences in Early Childhood Education.

The course methodology aspires creating an output. Working individually or in groups on a concrete product to be used in your own school. Participants are given time to develop these outputs and the trainers coach and support them throughout the week.

The course participants will get a Certificate of Active Attendance.

The competences acquired will be validated by the course organisers on the Europass mobility.

Early Childhood Education and Care on-site courses take place in Oulu, Finland. Early Childhood Education and Care are 7-day courses that start on Sunday afternoon and end on Saturday at 13:00 o'clock.

  • Advisory Teacher for ICT Education 
  • Class teacher and early education and care teacher 
  • Expertise in ICT and STEAM education at primary and secondary level 


Her working tasks include training and consultation on ICT especially according to the Finnish core curricula and the local strategies for both ICT and STEAM education. She is also experienced in development projects funded by the Finnish National Agency for Education, for instance, on innovative learning environments.




Päivi Packalén


  • English and Spanish language teacher in comprehensive education
  • Advisory Teacher for Global Citizenship Skills Education in the Educational and Cultural Services of the city of Oulu


Her expertise include training and supporting schools in language teaching, global citizenship education, and international projects, such as Erasmus+ and Nordplus Projects. She is also experienced in development projects funded by the Finnish National Agency for Agency e.g., Internationalization in education and Bilingual Education.
