Educators, school management, and non-teaching staff in primary, secondary, and vocational education seeking to innovate their teaching practices and integrate technology effectively.
Suvi is an expert in educational psychology with a broad understanding of education and a deep insight into the human mind and learning. She holds a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Helsinki and has taught students in an innovative educational psychology program. Suvi’s teaching experience includes lecturing, supervising pre-service teachers, and facilitating group processes in phenomenon-based learning. Her research has focused on teacher-student interaction, and she has also studied media education as part of her teacher training. With grassroots experience as a classroom teacher, youth worker, and camp supervisor, she brings practical knowledge of working with children and teenagers to her work in teacher education and training.
This is a provisional programme, the finalized program will be shared with participants prior to the course.
Day 1, Monday
08:30 Visit an elementary school.
11:30 Lunch at the school or university.
12:00 Wrap-up walk and university campus tour.
13:30 Presentation on the Finnish education system and a parent interview.
15:00 onwards: Independent cultural experiences.
Day 2, Tuesday
08:30 Visit a Finnish kindergarten.
11:30 Lunch at campus.
12:20 Ferry to Suomenlinna.
13:00 Biology and geography workshop on Baltic Sea studies, led by Juha Kuronen, at Suomenlinna.
15:20 Return ferry and reflections of the day.
Day 3, Wednesday
08:20 Explore a thematic destination (options include an art museum, stone mine, paper factory, zoo/animal park, or vocational school with hands-on studies).
- Includes a shadowing workshop with students at the destination.
12:30 Lunch and history/sports outdoor adventure game (locations such as Suomenlinna or Nuuksio Forest).
15:30 Optional sauna experience (included in course fee).
Day 4, Thursday
09:00 Visit a high school or vocational school.
11:30 Lunch at the school.
12:00 Socratic walk and afternoon coffee.
14:20 Ferry to Suomenlinna, followed by a guided history tour focusing on cannons and tunnels. Return ferry afterward.
Day 5, Friday
09:00 Science workshop at Heureka or outdoor mobile game with students.
- Wrap-up session: Visioning the future.
12:30 onwards: Lunch and time for independent cultural experiences.
